Tradesure Insurance run through the top ten best used small cars to buy and sell in the Motor Trade 2015. With the multitude of small hatchbacks about it’s never easy to select the cars that are right to buy for your stock. We’ve looked at the stats and what values make a small car a good car to buy to sell.
1. Vauxhall Corsa
Coming first as our top ten best used small cars, the Vauxhal Corsa has won What Car? Car of the Year Award and Supermini of the Year category twice.
Although the Vauxhall Corsa is a small car, this fourth generation model is Tardis like, managing to feel roomy and like a much larger car, and as great as it is at tootling around town this hatchback feels just at home on longer journeys and on the motorway.
2. Ford Fiesta
Drawing second place as our top ten best used small cars, the Ford Fiesta manages to be both fun to drive and a refined hatchback. A great alternative to its larger brother the Ford Focus. Being larger than the older 02-08 Fiesta, it’s just as spacious as its small car rivals like the Vauxhall Corsa, with a driving position that suits both spectrums of the height chart. You get a lot of boot space for your money, but bizarrely the rear seats don’t fold flat which can be a bit of pain.
3. Renault Clio
In third place as our top ten best used small cars, we welcome the Renault Clio. With all the chic design and low running costs of the previous models, the newer Renault Clio is of course a success. The interior quality is to a high standard on most models, it’s only really the low-spec models that feel a little cheap – which is to be expected. As with the Vauxhall Corsa and Ford Fiesta the Renault Clio is roomy and can comfortably fit four adults.
4. Honda Jazz
Looking for a car that defies the laws of physics? Then the Honda Jazz is the one for you! With tonnes of space and practicality this car is small but mighty.
Although the Honda Jazz isn’t the most confident over speed bumps and potholes, as the ride is a little firm but it makes up for this with its steering which is light and quick when you’re going around town.
5. Hyundai I10
The Hyundai i10 is a great buy for someone in the market for a reliable city car, they are good to drive, cheap to run and well equipped with plenty of space for a small car.
6. Peugeot 207
The Peugeot 207 is no exception to the range with its stylish looks and drivability. These French super minis are one of the best of the bunch with its roomy interior and lively performance making them a very popular hatchback, meaning there are plenty on the market to choose from.
7. Nissan Note
The Nissan Note is quirky yet practical and well designed. It’s spacious for a supermini, too, with room for up to four adults.
8. Audi A1
This is where a small stylist hatchback should benchmark itself on. The Audi A1 is wonderful to drive, and elegant. It brings fun to the small car range and not one to be missed. On top of that, the Audi badge is something which many drivers associate with as being trusted and reliable. Not a bad pitch to give to a potential customer.
9. Toyota Yaris
Not the most exciting, but it is reliable and the brand name is largely trusted. Basic interior, nothing flash but is a reliable tidy little hatchback which is always an easy sell.
10. Kia Picanto
Last and yes least for good reasons, as our top ten best used small cars we bring to you the Kia Picanto. Although we really didn’t like this car, it’s renowned for it’s 7 year warranty. This is why it’s a popular purchase and one you can easily resell off your forecourt.
