What People Look For In A Car Mechanic

25 Apr, 2017

Here at Tradesure, the cover we provide for car mechanics allows them to do their business safe in the knowledge they have the appropriate insurance in place.

We pride ourselves on customer service and finding the best policies at the best prices, but what do people look for in their mechanics?

Whether you work in a bodyshop or out and about as a mobile mechanic, there are a few things you should be making sure you always do in order to be successful in your business.

Honesty

We always say to our customers that honesty is the best policy and this applies to all walks of good business. If you enjoy fixing cars and you’re looking to be successful, then being honest at all times is key to your reputation.

If it’s a minor fault, easily fixed, you should say so and quote appropriately. If you’re very busy but you don’t want to say no to more work then be honest about how long a job will take you – it’s better than upsetting your customers and hurting your chances of repeat business.

You’re reputation matters and word of mouth is a big factor in how companies and the services they provide are shared between customers and potential new customers, so your honesty will serve you well both in the short and long term.

Quality

Something else that will be appreciated and shared by your customers is the quality of your job. If you’re proud of what you do then this shouldn’t be an issue and our advice is to never cut corners when it comes to fixing up motors.

There are the obvious safety concerns when it comes to other people cars and knowing nothing you ever do could put anyone in any danger, but a good job well done is also very satisfying personally and again, it will mean repeat custom and more commercial benefits for your business.

Trust

Overall, your honesty with customers and your dedication to doing a great job will build trust in your services, leading to more business and a good name locally. Vehicles are always breaking down or in need of a new part, so priding yourself on good business and a high level of trust will see more and more people turning to you as their mechanic.

If your customers trust you with their cars, the costs to repair them and the quality of the job you’ll do, then you’re all set to keep doing what you love, growing your business and making good money at the same time.

Speaking of trust, thousands of customers have been trusting Tradesure for over 50 years, so call us today for all your insurance needs: 0121 248 9300.

Whether a claim is defined as fault or non-fault is not to do with whose fault any accident or damage is – it’s about how insurers categorise claims based on cost recovery outcomes.
